The Last of the Road Trip
So we're back! Since the last post this is what we've been up to:
We took surf lessons...Anna and I were both successful in getting up right away, so we made the job prettyeasy for our instructor. He helped us find a good waves and away we went. After lunch we came back to continue, but the water was pretty rough. We got beat up pretty good - I did a nose dive and hit the sand with my face....Anna had done one prior...on the beach as we were attempting yoga moves...we were even and sufficiently sore, so we called it a day.
The activity in the evening was volleyball with free wine...again! Anna and I were aching, but played a few games before the whole gang decided to just go up to the dorm and finish the box-o-wine. Buccanneers was a great place to stay, as it had the most backpackers of any place we'd been, and there was always something to do!
Our next stop was Jeffrey's Bay. We stayed at theis cool backpacker called Island Vibe. We spent most of our time there checking out the surf shops, lying on the beach (it wasn't exceptionally warm), eating Mexican food and planning the next stops of our trip.
We left early the next morning and headed towards Stormsriver...This place is known for the world's highest bungy jump (160 meters) off Bloukrans bridge (216 meters). We watched a few people do it, then signed up for it ourselves. Click here to check out the bungy website! Both Anna and I had decided that since this was the highest, we only had to bungy once and it could be checked off our "list" for good. I was okay walking across the foot bridge to the jump area, but as soon as Anna went, and I heard her shriek of terror, that's when I started to get scared. I did it the brave way, and jumped after the countdown, and MAN was it a rush! Jumping off a bridge that high (or any bridge for that matter) just goes against everything inside you. The 8 seconds of free fall felt like it lasted forever. The cool thing about bungy jumping is that you get multiple free falls when the cord pulls you back up to fall all over again. The whole thing only lasted about a minute before they started to pull me up again. All I could say when I got to the top was that I was DEFINITELY going to do THAT again!!! When there's a higher jump...I'm there!
Here are some pictures from the day:

After that adventure we headed to Plettenberg bay. We stayed in the BEST backpacker ever (mostly because of it's awesome beds) called Nothando's and treated ourselves to an awesome dinner with cocktails at Miguel's (the Anna's birthday meal).
The last day of driving...we made it to Hermanus, where we stayed with a friend of Anna's. We stayed there for 2 nights and due to rain, basically just hung out. We made it back to Cape Town early Sunday morning to return the car, and found that the weather was pretty nice, so we climbed table mountain again along Skeleton Gorge. What a great mountain to have in your back yard...We plan on climbing the face under the cable car if the weather permits.
We are now house-sitting for some friends of friends of Anna's in a huge house on Boshof St. It's nice to have a place to call home for 2 weeks.
More pictures to come...
