Cape Town Pictures (pre-Overlanding)
OK, so I'm going to slowly start to post pictures from the trip so far. This post is going to be all pictures from Cape Town before we left on our Overland trip.
Climbing Table Mountain of course is a must. We climbed it one afternoon and brought along stuff for a "sundowner" something we all should do more often...bring a bottle of wine and a snack and be prepared to just sit and enjoy the sunset!
The view from part of the way up the mountain
Cable Car (we took the hard way up...and down)
Anna and I on the way up
The sun turns the mountain an amazing red, and the clouds fall over like a tablecloth...the clouds behind us there are called the devils smoke as it is over devil's peak
The view from nearly the top
Enjoying South African wine over a South African sunset from Pick 'n Pay Nemo glasses
We had to finish the climb up, after some wine and less sunlight, in order to make our way back down. It was a full moon though, so we didn't even need to use our flashlights to see.
We also made a trip to Robben Island. It was really a cool experience. Our guide was a former prisoner there, so we really got a lot of emotional stories etc.
Here is a picture of me and Anna on Robben island with Table Mountain in the background
Our guide said that this was always one of the hardest things about being a prisoner there...that they could see Cape Town, knowing they could never go there.
We also got to go to a Stormers rugby game in Newlands stadium. It's so cool to watch a rugby game with the great Table Mountain in the background! It was a bit of a stormy day...but you can still kind of see the mountain.
On our way to one of Graham's friend's 30th birthday parties, we stopped on the side of the road and ran down to this beach for a swim. The water's cold, but what a great thing to be able to do any time of the year!

Anna Lucy and I went for a swim, and Graham got some cool sunset sillouette pictures

more to come...
